Travel Tours inspire unique paintings.
The art spirit is enhanced by inhaling the air, hearing the sounds, and experiencing
the atmosphere of the places you visit. Watercolor sketches and reference photographs
you take permit in-depth understanding of unfamiliar places. Let me show you how to
turn the inspiration you find when you travel into paintings that reveal the magic of
the places you visit.

PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO
February 20-26, 2010
|
|
Puerto Vallarta is a tropical paradise located on the west coast of Mexico.
It is situated on the same parallel as the Hawaiian Islands, which means excellent temperatures
in February! Our hotel, with its beautiful colonial architecture, has one of the best beaches
in the tourist area. Besides sand and surf, you will enjoy the lovely pools and spa facilities.
Facing an unbelievably blue sea, sunsets are fabulous from this location. And the sunsets will
give us the perfect opportunity to paint using one of my favorite color chords... the complementary
color scheme of blue and orange! We will be painting daily in a private studio. A few lessons in
plein air will inspire additions to your travel journal and evening gallery walks in town will add
to this creative experience. Registered students will be sent a suggested supply list and several
photo images featuring shadows... because painting shadows will be the focus of this workshop.
I have found that by sending images in advance, the drawing can be finished at home... leaving more
time for painting during class time!
$1,695 painter /$1,495 non-painter

UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN
September 14-24, 2010
|
|
Carla O'Connor and I will be team-teaching in one of the most beautiful and
interesting towns in Tuscany. LUCCA! Together we have planned creativity prompts, demos, and
lessons that will result in painting success. The tour includes a day trip by train to Vernazzia,
my favorite Cinque Terre village. You will fly in and out of the Florence airport. A private bus
will pick us up at the airport and take us to Lucca for 10 days of cultural immersion.
Daily painting time will be our focus. But concerts nearly every night, wonderful food, a weekend
outdoor Antique Fair, and a few serendipitous events will inspire beautiful paintings. For those who
care to go on to Florence, we have planned a 3-night extension to visit museums, monuments, and the
famous Ponte Vecchio that spans the Arno River.
Registered students will be sent a suggested supply list and several photo images featuring sights typically
found in and near Lucca. I have found that by sending images in advance the drawing can be finished at home...
leaving more time for painting during class time.
